Dundee Dance Event
Dundee Dance Event History
The Dundee Dance Event was originally launched back in 1998 to showcase DJing talent not getting the chance to shine in local bars and clubs. The event was a first for the city and is still the largest event in the UK designed for local, up-and-coming DJs and artists from Dundee and beyond. The DDE ran for two successful years and provided a platform for the DJs to show what they could do. Many of the DJs from those early events, including DDE promoter Mike McDonald, went on to become residents at venues throughout the country and abroad, and made appearances at T In The Park and Homelands festivals.
The event was relaunched in 2011 and was an instant success with packed bars and a sold out closing party. From humble beginnings back in 1998 with 17 DJs playing in 9 venues, to relaunching in 2011 with 10 venues and 50 DJs, the event this year has 27 venues and over 150 DJs and artists. DJs from every Scottish city, and plenty of towns in-between, will be represented again at this year’s event - it’s now truly become a country-wide affair. The event is also an opportunity for the dance music community to get together once a year to celebrate the scene we all love.
We hope you enjoy our 2020 event on Sunday 3 May!
